Guardian Monitor Setup: App, Wi-Fi, SD Card & Mounting
Setting up Guardian Monitor takes a few minutes. Here's the whole process, plus the tips that save the most frustration.

What you need
- An iPhone or Android phone
- Home Wi-Fi (and its password)
- A USB charger
- A micro SD card, if you want recordings saved (check whether one comes with your order)
Step by step
- Charge it with the USB cable.
- Install the app named in the box or on the official store, then create your account.
- Pair it next to your router: follow the app to add the camera and choose your Wi-Fi network. If you have separate 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks, the 2.4 GHz one is the usual choice for small cameras.
- Insert the micro SD card if you want local recording.
- Mount it: snap it onto the magnetic base, then twist the head to aim it. No drilling.
- Turn on motion alerts in the app and test them by walking past.
Where to put it
- Facing your front door from inside, at head height
- Covering the area where your pet spends the day
- In a garage or shed, near an outlet so it can stay plugged in
- Bathrooms, bedrooms of guests, or anywhere people expect privacy
- Pointing into a neighbour's property
Night vision tips
Infrared night vision reaches about 33 ft (per the seller) and switches on by itself. Don't aim it through a window at night – the glass reflects the infrared light and you'll see mostly glare.
